I’m a struggling first year. I was desperate for break and completely burnt out by the time it came around. I had the serious Sunday blues last night and couldn’t sleep or be productive. My first class today was a bit of a disaster and I found myself thinking “oof idk how I’m gonna make it to the end of the year.”
BUT then in my second class I had a couple students who went out of their way to start conversations with me. The class wasn’t super smooth, but it felt a bit productive. Then a student came to my office BURSTING about his college acceptance letter and was excited to tell me. Then I realized that I’m actually GLAD to be back, and I missed working, and missed a lot of my students. It is such a relief to know that I didn’t come back hating my job, cause honestly I was a little worried I would. Here’s to being a better teacher in 2020 than I was in 2019!
