Comparing In-House vs Outsourced Yardi Implementation Services: Pros and Cons
Permalink

I’ve been working in property tech for over a decade, and one topic I see debated constantly is whether to handle Yardi setup in-house or to outsource to specialized Yardi implementation services. Both approaches have merit, but they come with different risks and rewards.

In-house implementations work best for companies with robust IT and operations teams familiar with Yardi or similar systems. You have full control and can iterate internally, but it takes a lot of time and resources. I’ve seen teams struggle to hit go-live deadlines because they underestimated the complexity.

Outsourced Yardi implementation services, on the other hand, bring in people who live and breathe the platform. They understand best practices, can configure modules quickly, and often provide training as part of the package. While there’s a cost, the efficiency and reliability often outweigh it—especially for firms without large tech departments.

A hybrid approach also works. Some companies use internal teams to prepare data and map workflows, while relying on external Yardi implementation services for configuration and testing. This can reduce costs while still ensuring quality.

In short, if your team has never used Yardi before, don’t risk going it alone. A poor implementation can lead to years of inefficiency. Outsourcing, at least for the initial setup, is usually the smartest move.
