So here's my situation, I've been working front desk and doing some light maintenance at a smaller hotel over near Catskill for about a year and a half. A few weeks ago I was moving some old furniture out of a storage room and felt something pop in my lower back. I finished my shift because I'm dumb and didn't want to cause trouble, but by the next morning I could barely get out of bed. My boss is a nice enough guy but the hotel is part of a smaller chain and I think they're trying to handle the whole thing internally to keep their insurance rates low or something. They keep asking me to just use my regular health insurance for the doctor visits, which doesn't feel right to me because this definitely happened at work. I'm really confused about the whole process and I don't want to say something that messes me up later. I think I need to find a work injury lawyer Greene County NY based that can explain how this is supposed to work because I don't trust what my employer is telling me. Has anybody dealt with a situation where the boss tries to keep it off the books? I'm not trying to be difficult, I just want to make sure my back gets fixed right and I don't end up with a stack of medical bills. Any advice on how to handle this would be great.
