Hi!

I’m Maria Antonette Sajise from Philippines. I’m a third year student taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics.

Having an assessment in learning is very important. By assessment, teacher can easily know if the students have the capacity to move on the intended instruction. But teacher must also consider the appropriateness of assessment methods used. It should be in line with learning objective. If teacher will not consider appropriateness of assessment, there will be confusion in the part of the teacher if what learning target he should achieved. The teacher will also mislead because he don’t know what strategy in teaching he will do next. Assessment also serve as a guide for teacher of what skills, intelligence or capacities does his students have. In line with this, he will get an idea of what approach he will going to do for faster learning. Assessment of learning has little effect because teachers don’t give importance in identifying appropriate assessment method that affect teaching learning process. Having an appropriate assessment helps you achieved your leaning goals for you students. It could also serve as guide how you will evaluate your students. This will be your communication tool between you and your student. Using appropriate assessment will motivate students to actively involve in classroom activities. It could also help teachers know if their way of teaching is effective. If not, a teacher could develop or use other ways of teaching.
