How do you handle editing after your first draft?

Hey folks, I just wrapped up my manuscript and now I’m thinking about the editing phase. I’ve seen a lot of book editing and proofreading services online, but I’m unsure how to pick the right one or even what level of editing I really need. What’s worked for you? Did professional help make a noticeable difference?
