The flights are locked in and I've got nine full days on the ground in Morocco and honestly I'm both excited and completely overwhelmed trying to piece together a route that makes sense. I fly into Casablanca and out of Marrakech so I've got some flexibility but I keep second guessing whether to go north first or head straight south. I came across this Best 9 day Morocco itinerary that does a counterclockwise loop from Casablanca up to Chefchaouen then across to Fes before dropping down through the mountains to Marrakech and it seems to flow really well with minimal backtracking. The only thing giving me pause is whether Chefchaouen is worth the detour since it's a bit out of the way or if I'd be better off spending that time in Meknes and Volubilis instead. I'm traveling with my camera and really want those iconic blue city shots but I also don't want to waste a whole day on a bus just for photos if the vibe there is too touristy now. Anyone been recently and can tell me if it still feels special or if it's become an Instagram circus? Also open to any hidden gem recommendations along that northern route.
