I'd start with an amount where losing it wouldn't affect your normal finances. The important part isn't finding some minimum number that guarantees you can trade properly.  I'd also separate the amount you're willing to risk from the amount you're technically able to deposit. I'm seeing completely different answers everywhere. Some people say you need thousands to start, while others say you can start with almost nothing. Is there a sensible way to decide how much capital to use?
